Change of Life, Change of Practice: Yoga for an Inspired & Vibrant Existence
Women of all ages, including those new to the practice of yoga, are welcome!
Be a part of this unique woman’s circle where participants have the opportunity to share and listen to each others real-life experiences of menopause. In response, Karen, Susan and Lilia will present practices and life skills rooted in Yoga Philosophy and its corresponding, nature-based medical system, Ayurveda, to support, nourish and celebrate the transition to our ‘wisdom years.’ There are as many varied experiences of menopause as there are women in the world making this experiential workshop ideal for both first time and repeat attendees.
• Shifting your perspective: Discussing the experience of these natural, transitional manifestations within the context of yoga philosophy.
• A gentle asana practice: focused on alleviating menopausal symptoms and the importance of restorative poses to reduce stress, fatigue, brain fog and create hidden reserves of energy.
• Discussion of Ayurvedic healthy living guidelines and self-care practices to cultivate wellness and vitality as well as recommended food/herbal remedies for managing specific menopausal manifestations, including some samples and recipes.
KAREN APOSTOLINA, Yoga Alliance 500hr RYT ®, has been practicing yoga since 1996, and has an appreciation for many different styles of yoga including Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Anusara. Embracing this blend of styles allows for the creation of unique classes, pulling from a spectrum of asana (poses), pranayama (breath work), and relevant Eastern philosophies. This inclusive approach allows for a greater diversity of movement and appreciation for the practice. She is also a certified Relax and Renew ® Restorative Yoga teacher and works with cancer patients and survivors as well as anyone dealing from stress.
LILIA DELIGIO, Yoga Alliance 500hr RYT ®, has been practicing yoga since 2006 and describes herself as a late blooming yogini. She was a successful entertainment industry executive for over 30 years managing an international operations team. She draws on that experience teaching yoga for stress management, goal setting, and creating healthy work/life balance. She specializes in private ayurvedic yoga therapy sessions as well as customized group classes and workshops for achieving holistic wellness and healing of body, mind and spirit.
SUSAN HIRSHBERG, Yoga Alliance 500hr RYT ®, took her first yoga class in the early 1990’s, and instantly felt a deep connection to the poses. But life got busy - and a new job, city, marriage and baby took priority over yoga. Multi-tasking, fatigue & back pain eventually brought her back to the yoga mat. Yoga strengthened her body and calmed her mind. She discovered healing with restorative yoga, and found her true passion - to share yoga with others. Susan completed the Relax & Renew training with Judith Hanson Lasater in 2004. She still has a busy corporate day job, however her own yoga journey continues to sustain & nourish her. She is happiest sharing yoga with others, and teaches a gentle style stretch class in a corporate setting. She believes yoga is accessible to all. Beginners welcome. Laughter encouraged!
